Hello All, It has been a while since our last post, so here is an overview of some of the awesome learning we have been doing! Hour of Code by EuijuOur class has been learning to code for the past month and it can be difficult, but is really fun. We watched some videos with people like Barack Obama and Bill Gates about how important learning about computers is before we started. We also talked about challenge and growth mindset. We used the Hour of Code website for training program for coding. You should put the blocks in the right spot for coding and try different thinking. You can choose the activity that you want to do. There are a lot of games you can play on the site such as “Star Wars,””Minecraft, “”Code Combat,”and “Angry Birds.” Some a very hard and some are easy. You should try Coding! Alibi Game by Heeseo and JiwooAlibi is a really cool game that we played in class. First, you need a group of people 8-30. Then four people will be suspects for a crime. The people that aren’t suspects become detectives. The suspects in our game were suspected for a robbery at a local jewellry store. The suspects went into the hall and created an alibi for the time the robbery happened. The police detectives made past tense question in pairs for the suspects. After a few minutes, the suspects come inside and the detectives asked questions. The detectives tried to find differences in the stories of the suspects. After the detectives asked their questions we had a trial. Ms. B was the judge and the detectives had to give all the differences that they found. Ms. B said we needed to find 5 big differences in the alibis. One group of detectives found 5 differences but the other didn’t. This was a fun experience and helped us practice past tense! Sharing our Narrative Writing with Grade 2 By JianAt the end of Module 4, we went to the auditorium to read our stories to a grade 2 class in our school. It was a delight to share our stories with the grade 2. Everyone in our class wrote brilliant stories. Some people read their stories with 2 or 3 different grade 2 students. However the kids with longer story, only got to share with 1 student. Actually, my build up was too long, so I couldn’t even finish up with my first second grade kid. Also my friend Sooyoung’s story was too long to finish too. The second grade students were fabulous listeners and some read with great expression! Our class worked really hard to complete our stories and many were over 15 pages long!
